I have a 16 GB class 4 SD card that came with my DroidX smartphone. I was resetting the phone and in fear of my data on the card being lost, I pulled it. Not during boot, but the phone was on.
Now the card is not noticed at all by any Android smartphones or computers. But my Blackberry Curve sees the card and says there’s a problem and it can’t read the card.
Is there anything I can do to make this 16 GB card useable again?

If your sd card is not read either by computer or mobile that means it has been corrupted as the controller built in is damaged. Now the only solution is to recover data is by visiting any good data recovery outlets in your vicinity who can physically remove the chip and fit in other device to retrieve your data while your sd card therafter shall be useless.
If your card is not getting recognized then it has issues with its drivers. To resolve it -

How To Fix a Corrupted Memory Card -
Anthony,
were you able to fix your microSD card or read it to backup your data? If yes, how did you do it?
hi there... My Micro SD creates password for itself. When I put in the phone it asked for password and when I removed it and put inside my computer I saw: PLEASE INSERT A DISK in the driver.
how can i fix that problem... help if anyone know it send it to my email or post here. My email: [email protected]
Ous,
since this is a different scenario from the question posted above, I recommend that you submit a new question.
Tina, Ous question is relative to the main question.
How can I fix a microSD card that is not being read or recognized by phones or computers? When I check it on my phone it says that the MicroSD has a password. I tried using an explorer software on my phone but then it would not detect microsd card as well. I tried removing it from my phone and using it in a card reader but it was not recognized by the computer. PLEASE INSERT A DISK in the driver. PLease help.. Ous did not repost...Prud,
I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions than the ones posted above and you are unlikely to receive more/new suggestions in this comment thread.
The thing is, at some point hardware is simply broken and can not be fixed.
You may still be able to have the data recovered by professional services. However, that is quite expensive.
Thanks Tina, I really appreciate it. I've already come to terms with the fact that the info is lost. It's just that this is a very common problem with microSD cards and it's very difficult to find solutions online. This was the only thread that I could find with hours of web-crawling with different keywords. Again, Thanks for your quick reply. You may want to add email notification to this site. I honestly forgot about making this post. I just ended up googling myself and this came up.
Prud,
the problem of email notifications is something we're working on and I know it's an unfortunate situation right now.
We have had some serious issues with comment notifications and decided not to turn them on again until these issues are fixed.

HP USB Disk Storage Formatting Tool Failed to Format the Device
'Hi, I have been using HP USB disk storage tool 2.2.3 in Windows 7. It's easy-to-use, and I like it very much. Lately, my laptop was upgraded to Windows 10, but when I tried to run the software to format a 64GB USB to FAT32, it went about 80% and then just said 'failed to format the device'. Quitting the software doesn't work, either. It seemed to be an incompatibility issue. Now I need a better alternative for HP USB disk storage formatting tool that can work perfectly in Windows 10. Any thoughts?'
HP USB disk storage formatting utility is used to format any USB flash drive with FAT, FAT32, or NTFS. The easy-to-use features make it popular among users who prefer a third-party USB formatting tool than Disk Management in Windows. The problem is, a lot of users start complaining their favorite software after they upgraded to Windows 10 on their desktop and laptop. They constantly receive formatting error on HP USB disk storage formatting software.
Have you unfortunately been a number of them? Don't worry. We find a better yet free alternative - EaseUS Partition Master, a free partition manager software that can do whatever an HP USB disk storage application can do. What's more, it is more than just an HP formatting alternative, as it offers more useful features that everyone would frequently use in their daily life. For example, resize (like extend or shrink) partition, wipe partition, hide partition, delete the partition, merge partitions, create a new partition, etc.
Format HDD/SSD, USB Flash Drive & SD Card with EaseUS Partition Master
We take EaseUS Partition Master as the best free HP USB disk storage formatting tool alternative according to two aspects. One, it goes fully compatible with Windows 10, which won't send format error; two, the additional features are very useful that can be applied easily to any external storage devices. Now, learn how to format your drive with such amazing alternative software from the steps below.
Step 1: Launch EaseUS Partition Master, right-click the partition on your external hard drive/USB/SD card which you want to format and choose the 'Format' option.
Step 2: Assign a new partition label, file system (NTFS/FAT32/EXT2/EXT3), and cluster size to the selected partition, then click 'OK'.
Step 3: In the Warning window, click 'OK' to continue.
Step 4: Click the 'Execute Operation' button in the top-left corner to review the changes, then click 'Apply' to start formatting your external hard drive/USB/SD card.
Note: Smaller cluster size makes less wasting of disk space. The smaller cluster size is, the bigger file allocation table (FAT) will be. The bigger the FAT is, the slower the operating system works with the disk.
What can an SD card format tool do for you
Under normal circumstances, you can free format an SD memory card, USB flash drive, external hard drive or some other storage devices with Windows built-in disk management tool easily. But in some complex cases, you might need a third-party SD card format software to help you do this job successfully. Here we list some such cases:
- Fix sd card not formatted error for reuse
- Repair corrupted, unrecognized or inaccessible SD card
- Change file system, raw to NTFS, FAT32 to NTFS, etc.
- Restore SD card to original size or full capacity
- Remove write-protection of the SD card
- Clean up unknown malware or virus
- Erase data for privacy protection
- Format SD card for optimal performance

SD Memory Card Formatter 5.0.1 for SD/SDHC/SDXC
The SD Memory Card Formatter formats SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card and SDXC Memory Card (respectively SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards) complying with the SD File System Specification created by the SD Association (SDA).
It is strongly recommended to use the SD Memory Card Formatter to format SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards rather than using formatting tools provided with individual operating systems. In general, formatting tools provided with operating systems can format various storage media including SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards, but it may not be optimized for SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards and it may result in lower performance.
SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards have a “Protected Area” for SD Card security purposes. The SD Memory Card Formatter does not format the protected area in the SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards. The protected area shall be formatted by an appropriate PC application or SD host devices that provide SD security function.
The SD Memory Card Formatter doesn't support SD/SDHC/SDXC Card encrypted by the “BitLocker To Go' functionality of Windows. Please format the SD/SDHC/SDXC Card after it has been unlocked.
